Would you like to volunteer, but don't know how to become "cleared" for volunteer service?  Follow the process below and get "cleared" to volunteer for the duration of your student's enrollment in WUSD:

  1. Pick up a Volunteer Packet from the school office and obtain a signature from the Principal or Vice Principal to start the process,
  2. Complete the Volunteer Packet and submit it to the District Office,
  3. Following guidelines provided by the District Office, complete a TB test and LiveScan fingerprinting (paid for by WUSD),
  4. Wait for our school secretaries to call you indicating that your paperwork has cleared, and
  5. Pick up your Volunteer ID badge and start volunteering!

All volunteers must wear their Volunteer ID at all times when on campus or volunteering at campus events.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) needs you!  There are many activities and events throughout the year that need parent support, most importantly, helping to determine what these activities and events will be!  If you want to contribute to an engaging, positive, and supportive school culture, please consider joining the PTSA.  We meet the first Tuesday of the month from 4:30-5:30 PM in the WMO library.  Contact PTSA President Nicol Callahan at 916-798-4663 or by email.

School Beautification Committee

Are you artistic? Have a green thumb?  Have muscles you're willing to put to work?  If so, consider joining the School Beautification Committee.  We're looking for volunteers to help brainstorm and conduct projects on our campus to make it a more appealing and inviting place to learn.  Contact Diana Quintero at 916-375-7730 or by email to sign up!

English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC)

Consider joining our site ELAC--a committee that focuses on improving instruction for our English-language learning students and fostering stronger support services and community partnerships with the parents and families of our English-language learning students.  Contact Mrs. Nellie Placensia for more information at 916-375-7730, extension 3118 or by email

School Bus Chaperones

We're looking for parents and family volunteers to ride our school buses in the mornings and afternoons.  Your presence on the bus will help us enhance the safety and supervision of our young riders throughout the year, support our valued bus drivers, and encourage our students to model the Dragon Code of Honor to and from our campus.

If you are available one or more days a week from 6:15-7:15 AM or 2:20-3:20 PM, would you consider becoming a bus chaperone  Contact Mr. Westberg at 916-375-7730 or by email for more information or to sign up!

Hall Monitors

Are you observant, comfortable with kids, and do you enjoy being outdoors?  Our campus is huge and we could use your help monitoring the hallways and quad to remind students to be safe and respectful.  If you have a consistent hour or more at least one day a week, we'd love to put you to work!  Contact Jen Garber at 916-375-7730 x. 3197 or by email for more information or to sign up!
